UK planning officials have passed a recommendation for Eneco and EDF’s up to 970MW Navitus Bay offshore wind farm to the Secretary of State for final consideration.

DECC now has three months in which to issue a decision on the Round 3 project with the final determination due to be released on or before 11 September.

Navitus will feature 121 MHI Vestas V164 turbines under the original layout and up to 78 of the same machine at an alternative 630MW design also being considered by DECC.

The wind farm is located off the Dorset and Hampshire coast and to the west of the Isle of Wight in the south of England.
